The Story

Why we built it

We built Vayu after years of taking the kind of vacations that leave you needing another vacation. Overscheduled, overstimulated, over before they started.

Living in Toronto taught us what burnout feels like. Traveling Costa Rica taught us what actually restores you. Not spa treatments or Instagram sunsets, but real quiet. Real food. Real sleep.

So we built a place with just four suites in the South Pacific rainforest. Close enough to Corcovado and Marino Ballena to explore. Remote enough to actually rest. It's what we needed then. It's probably what you need now.

What We Believe

Four things
we don't compromise on

Less is intentional.

Four suites. One restaurant. No resort fees. Everything at Vayu is a deliberate choice. A smaller property means more attention on fewer guests. That's the point.

Rest needs the right conditions.

Real rest doesn't happen in a crowded resort. It happens when there's nothing competing for your attention. No noise, no queues, no decisions you didn't ask to make.

Food is half the stay.

NuRaw serves breakfast and dinner every day. Locally sourced, freshly prepared, included in your rate. Not an optional extra. Not an afterthought. Half of what makes a stay memorable.

Service should feel like a person.

Every reservation comes with a personal concierge. Someone who knows your name before you arrive, who handles the logistics before you have to ask, and who gets out of the way when you don't need them.

You will not share breakfast with fifty strangers. You will not wait for a sunlounger. At full capacity, there are eight guests on the property.

Half board, always

Breakfast and a three-course dinner are included in every rate. NuRaw is not a hotel restaurant in the usual sense. It's the reason some guests come back.

Real jungle. Real remote.

3 km east off the Costanera Highway, in Tres Rios, Uvita. Jungle on all sides. The Whale Tail and Marino Ballena are ten minutes away. Corcovado is a day trip.

Ownership

Founded and run by us

Marc handles operations and guest experience. Rafael built the property and still oversees everything on site. When you contact Vayu, you are talking to one of us.
